Cool early morning air brushed her cheeks as the speeding boat rounded Turkey Point and headed north into the Elk River. The water grew calmer as Darlene contemplated her revenge on the residents of Osprey Cove. So far, everything had fallen into place like clockwork. She and her brother, Donnie, had stolen a boat and loaded it with explosive packages and Ray’s old deer rifle. Now, under cover of darkness, they were on their way to Osprey Cove. She had waited over a year, and now she fingered the pearl-handled knife in her right pocket, imagining Daddy’s sly, approving grin. Darlene was about to settle the score for the last time. 

Set in rural Cecil County, Maryland, this fictional story follows a woman shaped by a tyrannical father who taught her to distrust others, treat entitlement as a license for dishonesty, and seek revenge against those she felt had wronged her.
